We dont stop caring

Lifewise General Manager, Moira Lawler, presented the We Don’t stop Caring Petition to Parliament today and met with Social Development Minister Anne Tolley.

The government is currently reviewing Child, Youth and Family Services, including whether the age of foster care should be reviewed.

13,000 people signed the petition to raise the age of leaving state care from 17 to 21, and there are some tentative signs of support from those up top.

However, there is still some wait before any decision will be made. The Modernising Child, Youth and Family Expert Panel is expected to submit its final report later this month. Ministers will give consideration to the panel’s recommendations, and from here a decision will be made.
