The Children’s Commissioner and Philanthropy New Zealand has just launched Giving2Kids, an online page to provide organisations and ‘socially-minded businesses, advice on how to make ‘good’ decisions about  investing ‘wisely’ in kiwi children. The webpage is packed with information about which children have the greatest needs, what children need at different stages, working alongside existing charities and lots of ideas for giving to kids. Although this approach will not address the structural and cultural inequalities that sit underneath child poverty, nevertheless there is always a place for human compassion in action.
