Many of our member agencies have a long history of providing support to families engaged with Child, Youth and Family and who are funded by CYF to provide this support.

The landscape in which these services are delivered is changing and NZCCSS is working at the forefront of these changes to ensure the voices of our most vulnerable children, families, whānau and communities are included in the formulation of new government policies.

The policy settings in which our member agencies operate are due to change, particularly in relation to:

  1. a new-cross agency focus on supporting New Zealand’s most vulnerable children to receive priority access to services and supports
  2. a new way of contracting with social service agencies called Investing in Services for Outcomes
  3. a reform of New Zealand’s welfare system with a focus on ‘getting into work’, sanctions and the provision of some incentives.
