The REAL housing affordability issues

Housing affordability is about people who are renting, not just about home ownership. Most people on low-incomes are renters and many of them experience often extreme housing needs every day.

People who are homeless, families and children who live in sub-standard housing, those who need  emergency housing, people on state housing waiting lists, people without secure private sector tenancies, those on low-incomes who are struggling to meet mortgage costs or who need help to get over the barriers to home ownership (the so-called ‘intermediate’ housing market) – this is the REAL housing affordability crisis.

This is not new – it is a long term structural problem that has deepened its grip on wider parts of the community. These are the real issues:
